This Privacy Policy explains how MealPlanList handles information when you use the website, account features, meal planning tools, shopping lists, public shopping links, checkout, and related services.
MealPlanList is a weekly meal planner and grocery list app. You can use the planner without an account to organise weekly meals on the days you choose, recipes, ingredients, inventory, saved weeks, and shopping status. Plus adds cloud sync, daily Automatic Cloud Backup, multi-device use, and Live Shopping Links.
MealPlanList offers an optional text-to-recipe parsing feature that extracts structured ingredients from recipe text you choose to paste. MealPlanList does not provide AI meal generation, nutrition advice, calories, macros, diet recommendations, supermarket price comparison, automatic grocery totals, or grocery cart import.
We may collect account information such as your name, email address, authentication details, locale preference, and security-related session data.
When you use the planner without signing in, planner data is stored in your browser's local storage and is not intentionally sent to our database. Recovery backups for guests are stored in the current browser. For signed-in users, destructive-overwrite recovery backups are stored both on the server and in the current browser. If you use Plus cloud sync, we store the synced planner state, including recipes, ingredients, weekly plans, prep notes, inventory, shopping-list status, saved history, and related timestamps.
Anyone using the planner can create a snapshot link whose selected list data is encoded in the URL fragment and is not a live shared record. Plus users can create a Live Shopping Link; for that feature we store a secure token hash and a copy of the selected shared list. Visitors with the link can view that list and update To Buy, Buy Later, or Purchased status. A live link does not grant access to recipes, plan editing, settings, billing, or other account data.
We may collect technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, error logs, and security logs where needed to operate and protect the service.
Plus payment processing and subscription management are handled by Stripe. MealPlanList stores payment records, plan references, Stripe customer, Checkout, subscription, invoice, PaymentIntent and Charge identifiers, payment status, event timing, and related metadata needed to reconcile access, failures, refunds, and disputes. We do not store full card numbers.
We use information to provide account access and cloud sync, manage shopping lists and live links, maintain service security, troubleshoot errors, respond to user requests, process checkout records, and improve the product.
We use information to apply Free and Plus feature limits, provide recovery and sync behavior appropriate to the account, and restore Plus cloud capabilities when an eligible subscription becomes active again.
A live public shopping link is intended for convenient grocery shopping. Anyone who has the valid active link can view that one list and update item status. Those updates are reflected in the signed-in owner's synced planner, so you should only share the link with people you trust.
Live links expire after 14 days and may also be refreshed, closed, or replaced by the owner. Closed or expired links do not expose account details.
MealPlanList uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functions such as authentication, session security, locale preference, and basic site operation. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregate usage and improve the product. In the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, these Analytics providers load only after you accept; rejecting prevents them from loading. In other countries, they load normally without a banner. MealPlanList does not currently serve third-party advertising.
MealPlanList may use service providers for hosting, database storage, authentication, email, analytics, payment processing, AI processing, and operational tooling. These providers process information only as needed to support the service.
When you use our optional AI recipe parsing feature, recipe text you submit may be processed by Cloudflare Workers AI and, as a fallback provider, Google Gemini. When Google Gemini free tier is used as a fallback, Google may process prompt inputs in accordance with Google's terms of service and privacy policy to provide and improve its services. You may always use our local rule-based parsing or manual recipe entry instead.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so you are responsible for using strong credentials and keeping shared public links private.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
